A young and experienced feminist, ready for City Council
I’m Anna, a 26-year-old feminist from Helsinki and the chair of The Left Students. I work as a political aide for the Left Alliance Parliamentary Group while I’m also finishing up my sociology studies in the University of Helsinki.
When I was asked to describe myself for an interview by Kansan Uutiset in the beginning of 2020, I called myself a feminist. The basis of my politics is the consideration of human diversity and different life situations. I’m doing this work while critically reflecting on my own position. I’m working against inequality and the climate crisis, for feminism and sustainability.
I live in Kallio together with my rescue cat Alvar. I love the opportunity to quickly reach the buzz of the city centre, the nightlife of Kallio or the calm of the central park.
Before Kallio I’ve lived in other parts of Helsinki: Meilahti, Töölö and Tapanila. I’ve also spent a few years living abroad in London, UK, and Kumasi, Ghana.
